Rescued females not Chibok girls –Army

The Nigerian Army yesterday said the 200 girls rescued by soldiers while on op­eration at Sambisa Forest were not Chibok girls.

Acting Director, Army Pub­lic Relations, Colonel Sani Us­man, who made this known in a statement he issued last night in Abuja, said troops also rescued another 93 women abducted by the Boko Haram insurgents.
The army spokesman stated that soldiers, who had been on operation in the forest had reclaimed four major camps hitherto occupied by the insur­gents namely Sassa, Tokum­bere and two others at Alafa, all within the Sambisa Forest,
Colonel Usman in the state­ment made available to Daily Sun in Abuja, said: “This is to inform you that our gallant troops have been making prog­ress in the desired aim of rid­ding the nation of terrorists and their sanctuaries.
“It is heartwarming to in­form you that today, troops continued the offensive and cleared four key terrorists camps in Sambisa Forest, Bor­no State. So far, they have de­stroyed and cleared Sassa, To­kumbere and two other camps in the general area of Alafa, all within the Sambisa Forest.
“The troops have also res­cued 200 abducted girls (not Chibok girls) and 93 women. They are presently being pro­cessed. Similarly, a number of equipment and weapons have been captured. We will send further details and photographs soon.”
