Yes, I sold my 15-yr-old cousin as a sex-slave for 10k to start my business' - Suspect

There has been a final end to the saga involving a 15-year-old secondary school girl, Precious Ugochi Okoro, who was sold into sex slavery in Libya almost a year ago, as the person who struck the deal happens to be her maternal uncle, 27-year-old Kelvin Okorie, who has confessed to the police that he got the paltry sum of N10,000 in exchange for selling his sister's daughter, so as to start his own business.
Okorie was among five members of the syndicate who were arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), of the Lagos State Police Command after intensive investigations led by the famous Superintendent Abba Kyari.
Other members of the gang include Innocent Onyekwe, 38, Ugwu Christopher, 37, Christian Mercy, 19, and Ogbonna Njioku, 20.
But Okorie, in his confession, said he only agreed to selling the girl so that he could collect the sum to invest in a business but did not know she was going to be used as a sex slave.
He told the police that his friends in Libya alleged that they could help young Nigerian girls to secure employment in supermarkets and gas stations.

Former governor begs Ndigbo to reduce bride price

Col. Robert Akonobi (rtd), former Military governor of old Anambra State, has begged Igbo parents to reduce the bride price of their daughters so that "our young boys can marry them."

Akonobi said, "To me, this topic (bride price) has been dealt with in the past by Ndigbo, who came out with a reduced bride price, to enable our young boys marry our young girls,”
He also cautioned that men should study their proposed wives closely and longer before marrying them because "once you marry, no one else can put it asunder."
He spoke at Nnewi, Anambra State during the traditional wedding ceremony of the daughter of a business mogul, Chief Louis Onwugbenu, Onyinye and her husband, Bosah Chukwuogo, weekend.
Nnewi was agog with class as several dignitaries trooped to the Chief Onwugbenu residence for the memorable event. The dignitaries who were from both the military, political and manufacturing circles, including Col Akonobi, Hon. Clement Nwankwu, former member of the House of Representatives; Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers of Gabros International Limited and Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Limited, Chief Gabriel and Innocent Chukwuma respectively, among others.
The issue of high bride price was discussed extensively on the occasion. Hon. Nwankwu, in his own speech, prayed that Chief Onwugbenu and his wife would live long to enjoy the fruits of their children, especially those who married from outside their areas.
Also, speaking, Mrs. Onwugbenu expressed gratitude that her daughter’s hand was given out in marriage and prayed that her in-laws who came all the way from Awka to marry her daughter, would go back home safely. Father of the bride, Onwugbenu, in his own speech, said he had already blessed his daughter and her husband to go and make a good home.
On the bride price controversy in Igbo land, Onwugbenu declared: “We do not charge money as bride price for someone to marry my daughter. To me, what is important is that my daughter should live in peace with her husband. Let her husband’s family members accept her as part and parcel of their family.”

19-yr-old son arrested for raping mother

A 19-year-old boy from Marshal County, Gary Helms Jr, has been arrested by the Alabama, USA, police for allegedly raping his 45-year-old mother as a way of getting revenge on his brother.

The police say Helms committed the sacrilege at the Willow Terrace Trailer Park on Doyle Drive in Albertville and has admitted to the act.
A police statement reads:
"From what we understand, the rape stemmed from an argument between him and his brother. And apparently they were arguing over a girlfriend. And the rape was some sort of retaliation towards his brother."
Authorities say Helms' mother had apparently passed out drunk on the couch when the rape started.
"During the attack she did come to and recognize her attacker as her son. When she tried to get away, the son held her down until he was finished. It's totally sick is what it is.
Shocked, shocked would be more a better way to describe it. That somebody would dip to the lows to do something of this nature. It's just pretty much a shock to the conscience of the general public."

Setting style agenda for Aisha Buhari - ENTERTAINMENT

AISHA

BY BOLATITO ADEBAYO

Aisha Buhari was in the shadows during her husband’s campaign as  she cruised the campaign trail in her hijab  and her style did make an impression on us. Our observation is that  we have an idea of what her style  is, her body type and overall aesthetics. With all these tits bits we  will be setting a style agenda for our amiable First Lady. These tips will help her streamline her style and transform her to the modest classic First Lady we have always dreamed of.
Define your style
First and foremost we would like you to define your style, like some first ladies  in the past. We would like to know yours. The key to looking put-together is defining your style and the image  you’d like to portray.
Hijab
The key to making your hijab look edgy is to keep it simple and the whole outfit  will pop  with  more dimensions. Getting the right hijab  for your face type is as  important as picking the right hijab itself. It’s all about balancing out your face and framing it in a way that compliments your angles and features.  Whether you are doing a hijab or chador there are modern, trendy and classic ways of tying your hijab. Whichever one you pick, make sure you own the look. Also don’t be scared of doing bright colours once in a while too.
Scarves
One thing we have noticed is that Aishat always throws on her scarf on most of her outfit and  it’s a good way to upgrade any boring, conservative wear into sophisticated and fashionable attire and  still look professional. You can look out for a scarf with simple designs and pair it with your attire in color combination to give a touch of elegance. You may also  tie a scarf  bow for a cute, preppy appearance, or wear it as an headgear.  You can complement your dressing with a glamorous stylish look of a scarf. From dramatic velvet, soft and warm cashmere, sheer and romantic wrap, crochet shawl, lace or  beautiful pastel shawls, make sure your scarf  color matches your outfit. For evening outing, go for scarves with embellishments like beads and sequins.
Ankara
We are so sure we will be seeing a lot of Ankara  on you in the next four years, and we can’t beat the trendy designs  coming on now. As the First Lady, we are asking for something fresh each time we catch a glimpse of you. Probably a signature Ankara design that we might even name after you, but whatever designs your creative team will be looking out for,  we want something elegant, timeless and trendy.
Make up
It’s actually very important that our dear First Lady is always picture perfect and that is where the makeup comes in. The secret to achieving  great make up is having a great skin.  Foundations and concealers are next on the eye list. Make sure your base isn’t too thick or pasty. Highlighting is still important, but keep it subtle! Strong brows are  gorgeous because they frame your face. Blush should enhance your lovely face always. With lip color, you have a little bit more freedom to express yourself than you do  with eye colors, as long as they aren’t too distracting. You can also dazzle us with a little henna once in a while. We will love to see that creative design on you too. We are looking forward to a camera ready and fresh-faced First Lady.
Jewelry
As the president’s wife ,  we expect some sort of simple high jewelry glam. From stunning turquoise to mesmerizing aqua, the azure-inspired shade adds a light-hearted playfulness to the First Lady’s look. Also star-lit yellow diamonds, sapphires and other precious stones like pearls and corals will lift your spirits and bedazzle those around you.
Other accessories
Always make sure you look out for rare and timeless pieces. Your shoes must scream style and sophistication. Sometimes, you should let your shoes make the fashion statement as you strut your stuff all around the country.

Buhari’ll change Nigeria, but… –Atiku

Atiku/BUHARI
Former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has assured that the incoming government of Gen Muhammadu Buhari will change Nigeria positively, but warned that the transformation will not be immediate.
This is as he lambasted the President Goodluck Jonathan’s government over the persistent fuel scarcity and sacking of some government officials . He said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government has shown that it is inept and corrupt.
The former Vice President who spoke yesterday in Abuja after a meeting with Gen. Buhari urged Nigerians not to expect miracles from the incoming government. He submitted that though he had no doubt in his mind that Buhari will transform the country, it will not be achieved overnight.
Abubakar who contested against Buhari in the presidential primaries of the All Progressives a Congress (APC) said the country was facing huge challenges stressing that addressing the problems by the incoming government will not be a day’s job.
“I know expectations are high but we should not deceive ourselves, the change will not be immediate. He is not going to do any miracle”, the ex-vice president cautioned. “But I am certain we are going to witness positives changes,” he said.
Abubakar who refused to be drawn into the delay in the zoning of political offices by the APC berated the PDP government for doing little to address critical problems affecting the nation.
